While we mere mortals have been scrambling to find coupons and holiday deals (some of us going as far as attempting to shop on the terror that is Black Friday), the wealthy find themselves showered with free wares. That’s the most ironic thing about suddenly hitting it rich. All the things you can now afford, people send you for free. That’s the case with mega popstar Rihanna, who tweeted pics of her early Christmas presents. Some of the year’s trendiest It bags arrived at her door with personalized notes and personalized initials embroidered into them for her. One of them is the tartan Prada Bowler bag and the Versace Medusa bag, both of which are really big deal. Too bad we can’t all be famous for beauty and popularity, if that’s what it takes to have designers send you free loot!
Yet another H&M designer collaboration is upon us, and this one promises to be major: Versace for H&M.
The fall 2011 collection is designed by creative director Donatella Versace, and according the press release published Tuesday, promises to “recall the vibrant heritage of the brand, complete with leather, prints, color and exuberance in exclusive materials at fantastic H&M prices.
Donatella gushed in the same press release, “I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching their wide audience. The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere.”
Unlike other designer collaborations (we’re looking at you, Missoni for Target), sneak peeks of the Versace for H&M collaboration are already available…and they look fabulous. Expect to see fashionable young ladies camping out on the sidewalks to get a taste of these not-so-cheap thrills when they hit select US stores November 19.
Check out the video below to see what Donatella has planned for this fall!
Lady GaGa’s fashion love affair with Versace continued at the 2011 Much Music Awards on Sunday.
Throughout the awards, Gagaloo donned multiple looks from the house of Versace ranging from couture to vintage.
For her Edge of Glory performance, GaGa wore Atelier Versace jumpsuit entirely encrusted with black Swarovski crystals.
During Born This Way, she opted for a more comfortable ensemble that included a Gianni Versace S/S 1992 leopard print jacket with gold Medusa buttons and black trousers with gold detailing.
GaGa’s first acceptance speech look consisted of a Vintage Versace printed trench coat, beaded Vintage Versace pants and a Vintage Versace top encrusted with colorful Swarovski crystals.
And for the final outfit of the night GaGita posed with her two awards wearing a Vintage Versace bright blue and black suit with printed pants and the “January J” sunglasses in gold with gold lenses.
Not too long ago, we caught Mad Men star January Jones out and about with a bag made by a brand that wasn’t Versace. For most people, that wouldn’t be odd – Versace isn’t known for being an accessories favorite among celebrities, and even if it was, there are plenty of non-Versace bags to choose from. January endorses the brand, though, and brands tend to get a bit testy if they see their celebrity “faces” out and about with the wares of another company. Particularly since January’s endorsement deal is specifically for Versace accessories.
That wrong has been righted here, though, because the multi-material purple satchel that January’s toting is a variation of the Versace Hillary Satchel
January Jones was spotted shopping this past Tuesday at shopping at AAA Billiards in Los Angeles.
We recently told you about January’s deal with Versace but instead of Versace she’s carrying a Dior Libertine Hobo.
Wonder if someone will have a problem with this?
FYI, belt is by Hermes with MiH Jeans
The fashion and celeb blogs are buzzing about the latest ad campaign from Versace. The campaign features January Jones, star of Mad Men, in a series of topless photos with nothing but the bags from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection. The first wave of photos have hit the Internet and can be viewed on sites HuffingtonPost, JustJared and PopEater.
Back in November, WWD announced that Jones was chosen to be the new face of the Spring Versace line. Donatella Versace was recently quoted “I am always on the lookout for the next Versace blonde and in January, I feel I have found the perfect Versace woman for the 21st century. She is chi and elegant but deeply sensual too — it’s a dramatic combination. The photos were shot by Mario Testino.
The Versace label has always personified excess and the glamorous life. A recent project spearheaded by Donatella Versace however, has turned that luxury around to help others. In collaboration with the Whitney Museum of Art, the designer created “Art Unites”. The organization donated art supplies to sick children around the world.
The finished artwork, based on the “Friendship” theme were printed on Versace tote bags. Proceeds of the handbags benefit the Starlight Foundation and the One Foundation.
As an added bonus, anyone who buys one of these special bags between now and December 1 will receive a VIP discount of 20% at all Versace boutiques in the U.S.
