Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen have been named the most stylish sisters by Vogue and they will be on the cover of the special Best Dressed issue! Strangely enough, Mary-Kate and Ashley have never been on the cover of Vogue, so it’s about time!

The twins beat out other celebrity sisters like: Dakota and Elle Fanning, Kate and Pippa Middleton, Beyonce and Solange Knowles, and Rooney and Kate Mara. We think they deserved to win! While they’ve always been famous, they gained notice for their boho-chic style back in 2004, “We were called eccentric and eclectic…but we were just two California girls trying to dress for the New York winter.” Congrats to Mary-Kate and Ashley!

The Row has been doing quite well and demand for their alligator backpack has been huge. Sure it has a $39,000 price tag, but that doesn’t seem to stop people. Ashley told reporters, “It was the first thing that sold off the shelf.” MK and Ashley spent a lot of the night hanging with Christian Louboutin, who considers the girls his godchildren

It’s official. Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen are real fashion designers. Not only are they nominated for a CFDA award this year, they’re also featured in the April issue of Vogue. If Anna Wintour likes you, you’re definitely in! Of course, that also means you have to do everything she says—including stripping off your eyeliner and going au naturel for a photoshoot.

The Olsen’s spread looks like return to the good old days, when they were still making VHS movies and designing for Walmart. It’s delightfully cheesy, lighthearted and quite refreshing, full of sisterly bonding and smiles. Not that we don’t love the current incarnation of our favorite style twins, but giggles have been in short supply these past few years. Oh, the power of Anna Wintour.

What would a Tim Burton tribute be without the Olsen twins? Er…don’t answer that. Nonetheless, the dynamic duo hit up a party celebrating the eccentric director’s MoMA exhibit with twin Hermes handbags – a Birkin and a Kelly (cause the girls are so different, you know). If I were a twin I would avoid carrying the same handbag as my sister, but that’s just me. What do you think?

JCPenney has sent out invitations to preview Olsenboye, a new juniors’ collection designed by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen for the affordable department store.

Say what you will about the Olsens, but those two are extremely smart businesswomen. The move to a cheaper market seems more strategic than out of necessity; both of the girls’ lines are doing remarkably well. So well, in fact, that they also recently announced their plans to design eyewear as an extension of their high-end line, The Row. In a time when many designers are struggling to even stay afloat, branching out with $390 sunglasses is a sure sign of confidence and financial stability.

While no details have been given regarding the new JCPenney line, it goes without saying that Olsenboye will be affordable and geared toward a less luxurious demographic than that of The Row or Elizabeth & James.

We have no doubt that the collection will be a huge success; the twins are no strangers to budget-friendly teen garb. Remember their WalMart line of yesteryear? The collaboration made the girls – and WalMart – millions and millions of dollars, and that was long before the Olsens had honed their craft.

Now, the new CFDA members have established themselves as designers whose work is sophisticated and stylish. So stylish, in fact, that Bergdorf Goodman CE Jim Gold said of The Row, “I think the way to think about The Row is that it offers the perfect blank — the perfect schoolboy blazer, the perfect leather leggings, the perfect peacoat. So many designers are intent on the next great trend that some of the basics are neglected.”

That’s high praise from an important source!

What’s more, he notes that “to enter the designer apparel arena and build something, that’s significant.” If they can do that, we’re certain they will absolutely KILL it at JCPenney.

While Mary-Kate made a mad dash for London Fashion Week, twin sis Ashley Olsen laid low in New York City. Well, not that low. Though her denim shorts and black sweater remained casual (yet devastatingly edgy, of course), Ashley’s purple Hermes Market drawstring purse screamed high-end. I love the bag’s rich color and sumptuous suede…whether it’s paired with couture or cutoffs.

Looks like somebody needed a caffeine fix. The ever-stylish Ashley Olsen paired a major case of bedhead with her double-fisted teas, not to mention one fetching (and large) tote. This chic handbag is just one more reminder of how I’d kill to film an episode of “Supermarket Sweep” in Ashley’s closet, starting with that fabulous studded Alexander Wang she’s also got.
