Since it’s summer and everyone’s getting ready to jet set somewhere, here’s Gwyneth Paltrow exhibiting her personal airport style. Remember the days when she would look flawless at every possible opportunity? She favors bags by designers like Saint Laurent – the kinds of bags that let you know right away that the holder holder has money and class. This one costs upwards of $3000, doesn’t look stylish, classy or expensive (even though it really is.) What gives, Gwyn? This bag has been ridiculed by so many – even those in the fashion world. It’s like a litmus test for those who can really distinguish between good taste and those who will buy anything if it has a label on it, even if the label looks like a fake logo spray painted on by an art student. Gwyneth’s chosen to out herself as a trend follower this time. Maybe her highly publicized divorce from rocker Chris Martin has her too overwhelmed to be herself lately.
Ashley Benson of Pretty Little Liars and Spring Breakers was spotted at a seasonal music festival carrying this Alice + Olivia tote. Funny thing is, Dianna Agron of Glee was spotted with the same bag in inverted colors – white with a black trim instead of black with a white trim. Tom Cruise’s ex Katie Holmes has also been spotted with this bag as well as big A-lister Gwyneth Paltrow.
This is one of those types of handbags which isn’t instantly recognizable like the Chanel, Celine or Hermes lines but it is definitely popular among the Hollywood crowd because of its stylish look. Sometimes you just need a bag that leaves people wondering how exclusive it is or who the designer is. The only way to leave people hungry to know more is with a bag that looks fancy but isn’t so famous that every Kardashian has one in every color!
Cameron Diaz has been a pretty busy lady lately. For those of you wondering why you haven’t seen her in a film, it’s because she’s been busy creating and being a part of her newest flick “The Other Woman.” The cast is huge and even includes funny lady Leslie Mann and newcomer celebumodel Kate Upton. To get a break from filming, Cameron jetted off on a luxury holiday with pal Gwyneth Paltrow. On the flight back to New York, she was spotted with the Chanel Cerf bag in beige. This bag is a celeb fave. Lady Gaga’s been spotted with a black one and reality star Kyle Richardson has one in the same color as Cameron.
When we first saw Dianna Agron playing one of the “Cheerios”, aka cheerleaders on Glee, we thought she was just another cookie cutter Britney Spears-esque blonde. Turns out she’s got a lot more going on and her personal style is more indie than homecoming queen. The Daily Mail called her outfit frumpy but that’s probably because they prefer the run of the mill TOWIE and Made in Chelsea fare celebs like Tulisa and Cheryl Cole wear.
What they don’t know is this is more in line with California chic – comfortable and casual. Contrary to popular belief, Angelenos (aka L.A. dwellers) don’t all dress like either hippies or harlots as the series Californication would like you to believe. However, Dianna’s down to earth look is still label conscious because her cute black and white tote is by Alice + Olivia. Other fans of this bag are Goop queen and perpetually platinum blonde Gwyneth Paltrow and former Mrs. Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes. This back is also available in reverse colors – more black than white.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s having a very busy season. She inexplicably got named People Magazine’s Sexiest Woman of the year. Her online magazine Goop has been under fire for suggesting readers spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on luxury designer clothing. Everything she endorses is insanely expensive. However, she can’t help that she’s wealthy and isn’t ashamed of enjoying it. Whether others like it or not, she gives advice and those who can afford to take it love her for it.
The rest of us can just sit back and watch her style herself to perfection. She was recently spotted carrying this black and white Celine Luggage tote in New York. When she carried it in the evening, it really complemented her outfit nicely. She always manages to look pristine and WASP-ish when she dresses up. However, when she carried it the morning after she just looked like a regular person without the professionally done hair and makeup. But kudos to her for being able to wear leather skinny jeans after two kids. Many of us can’t do that when we’re in our 20’s and she puts us to shame in her 40’s!
Gwyneth doesn’t look like a superstar in these pics taken of her at LAX, but she was and still is one of Hollywood’s A listers. She was once the girl who nearly married Brad Pitt. She comes from a Hollywood family, has a string of critically acclaimed and blockbuster hits. British women recently polled to choosing her over all others as inspiration at the plastic surgeons’ office.
With her star power, she doesn’t have much left to prove. She knows WE know she’s got it all. So that leaves no need to tote around branded luggage. Here she is, low key as ever, carrying a bag which isn’t flashy but sure is hard to get your hands on. It’s an elite first piece from the studio of Hedi Slimane, Yves Saint Laurent’s new head designer.
While it remains to be seen where the fashion house will go under his direction, his first bag is a good indication. The no-frills, no flash, no logo style is on point with other big name fashion brands like Celine and Givenchy, which are also known for creating easily recognizable looks without the use of logos or Louis Vuitton style monograms. But would you pay thousands for this bag?
