What a wild ride it’s been for Cara Delvingne. She’s only been in the modelling world for a few years but she’s skyrocketed to fame. Of course, it helps that her family is extremely well connected but that doesn’t explain why designers act like she’s the most beautiful woman to have ever lived. Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld called her the new Kate Moss, but to be fair, he complimented her charming personality more than her looks. It seems her wild and crazy antics are what have won her a legion of powerful fans. Mulberry has even named a bag after her – the Cara Delvingne bag, which she’s been spotted carrying all over the place during Paris Fashion Week.
You know you’ve really made it in the fashion world when stoic Karl Lagerfeld lets you hang over him like Cara is in the middle picture. The young model also happens to be fashion’s It girl of the moment. Her cat-like eyes, button nose and devious smirk have something to do with it but it’s her partying lifestyle and quirky antics that really keep her in the headlines.
Most of the time when she’s photographed out and about in London, she looks like a scraggly teenager with a great body. At formal events, she manages to look well put together. Her Chanel Black and White Color Block flap bag is muted and contrasts well with the plum-colored jeans, purple boots and navy jacket. The silver top is a reminder that is a girl who doesn’t like playing it safe yet knows just how to work it anyway.
Okay, this is weird. It’s one of those rares occasions on which we don’t love something a celebrity is wearing. Diane Kruger is one of those actress/models who excel at both of those jobs. She’s been a leading lady in so many major Hollywood flicks. She’s so high up in the respected models list that Karl Lagerfeld has a soft spot for her. She’s one of his fashion muses the way Blake Lively of Gossip Girl is. Maybe that’s why she agreed to carry this somewhat ridiculous bag?
Her outfit is just drop dead gorgeous. Slim, well cut pants and a super FABULOUS fur coat. Classic black strappy sandals. The white polka dotted shirt is something we’d love to steal from her closet. Overall, her outfit is a total win. But the bag? Don’t get us wrong, Chanel is an amazing brand. But how many women are going to spend thousands of dollars on a bag that’s made of plexiglass and looks like a toy? It’s ALMOST as ridiculous as the hula hoop bag:
A while ago, we blogged about the new Chanel flap bags just when they were hot off the runway. The cool thing about the flap bag update is the heavy, rock n roll chain. Chain bags are in now more than ever and skinny chains just weren’t cutting it anymore. So it makes so much sense that Chanel upgraded the chains to a more impressive version.
The metal work on these bags has become something of an accessory on itself. It’s like the jewelry on the bag and it looks very pretty when complementing an outfit. Don’t have time to throw on a necklace? Your Chanel handbag chain will look just as pretty draped across your shoulder. Jennifer doesn’t stop there though. Her chic hair, sleek outfit and adorable baby complete her flawless look. Yes, cute babies can also be fashion accessories. It’s like reminding the world you have great DNA.
Karl Lagerfeld revealing that fashion was his biggest motivation to lose weight…
Fashion is the healthiest motivation for losing weight, for me, it was a matter of clothes. I had no health problems or emotional problems. It is not a good idea to wait until you are unhappy to go on a diet.”
Lagerfeld further explained his motivation: “I suddenly wanted to dress differently, to wear clothes designed by Hedi Slimane,” he said. “But these fashions, modeled by very, very slim boys — and not men my age — required me to lose at least 40kg. It took me exactly 13 months.” – and not men my age – required me to lose at least 40kg. It took me exactly 13 months.”
Courtney Love looked so amazing this past February at the Elle Style Awards, but for some reason she decided not to care the amfAR Cinema Against Aids Gala at Cannes last night.
Courtney wore a Givenchy Spring 2011 Couture gown which just didn’t flatter her. She showed a bit too much cleavage with that plunging neckline and just couldn’t work the dress. The bow, the multi layers, the feathers, the sheer material at the bottom, was just too much.
Courtney, who posed for photos with Karl Lagerfeld, later performed at the show.
Hopefully she’ll go back to her rare but glamorous looks.
Say what you want about Blake Lively, but there’s one thing you can’t deny—she’s officially the sweetest celebrity ever. A few months ago she sent cupcakes to Burberry’s Christopher Bailey as an apology for missing his show. Now, she’s waxing poetic about Chanel’s recent Resort 2012 presentation.
Seriously, there isn’t a bad bone in Blake’s body! She says:
“Every piece just made me smile. My mood was every single bit of that collection. The hardest part was thinking ‘I want to wear every single thing here.’ I never thought I’d be able to come to a Chanel fashion show, let alone be here working with them and be stood here wearing Chanel couture. This is so special.”
Based on these comments, it’s pretty easy to see how Blake charmed Karl Lagerfeld!
Are these people mad? We just heard that the business people over at Chanel are unhappy about head designer Karl Lagerfeld’s choice to make Blake Lively the face of their latest handbag collection “Mademoiselle”!
There has been grumbling about the fact that Blake doesn’t really suit the classic Fashion house and we are hearing rumors that she has been accused of having an “off brand look”. What is that supposed to mean anyway? We are so glad that Karl Lagerfeld got his way and gets to put whoever he wants for his ad campaigns, we totally agree with him that she is the All-American dream girl! (NewYorkDailyNews)

2011 welcomes a new assortment of Diet Coke bottles produced in collaboration with fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld. Three designs are featured in the limited edition collection, each inspired by Diet Coke heroines- Bernadette, Eleanor and Irene. Polka dots match Bernadette’s romanticism, swishy swirls for Eleanor’s fashion forward stance and rock drama to tally with Irene’s persona. In addition to the bottles, Karl photographed the collection’s advertising campaign featuring Coco Rocha, Heidi Mount and Jeneil Williams. A release is scheduled for June 2011, available individually or in a special collector box set.
